Our last couple days in Nicaragua were spent in the area of San Juan del Sur. Lots of beautiful beaches up and down the coast and (again) some great surfing. This time I rented a surfboard and gave it a go. Not too successful (managed to get up on my knees), but had fun. Spent one night at Playa Remanso south of San Juan del Sur and one night at Playa Maderas north. Playa Remanso is more of a beginner area and Playa Maderas is better for good surfers. At Playa Maderas we were able to camp right at the beach only feet away from the water at high tide.
I also want to mention how warm and friendly and helpful the Nicaraguan people are - although I could say the same thing for each of the countries we have visited in Latin America. It was definitely a highlight of our time in Nicaragua to meet people and interact with them.
The food on your plate looks fantastic!!
